On April 30th and May 1st 2024, we took the Humber's vision for decarbonisation down to London Olympia for Innovation Zero, the UK's largest net-zero congress. Two days of exhibitions and talks exploring the theme of innovation in net zero. We partnered with 14 regional businesses to share what's happening in the Humber, both individually and collectively, to drive decarbonisation in our region.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Hull Trains who did an amazing job of getting our team there and back in comfort as we boarded "The Humber Bridge" train.
Innovation Zero shared that the 2024 congress surpassed the attendance of the successful inaugural event back in 2023, and we can believe it. It certainly felt busy on the Humber Pavilion. Thank you to everyone who came to visit the Humber Pavilion to talk to our partners and learn more about our region's decarbonisation plans and progress.
This year, we had a programme of talks on the Humber Pavilion. Thank you to Dan Sadler of Equinor, Manish Patel of Air Products, and Guy Phillips of Uniper who covered topics including hydrogen and the Killingholme Energy Transformation Hub. Also to Simon Green of Humber Freeport with Patrick Pogue of pxGroup and Chris Smith of Meld Energy who discussed the Humber Freeport East Hull tax site.
The animated map in the centre of the Humber Pavilion was a real conversation starter and sparked a lot of interest!
There was representation from the Humber region on the many talks going on at the congress, including Richard Gwilliam and Angela Hepworth of Drax, Paul Fursey of Phillips 66, Johnathan Oxley of CBI Humber Cluster, Christian Stuckmann of Uniper, Jonathan Briggs of VPI, and Dr Angela Naef of Reckitt.
The Humber Pavilion had a visit from Ed Miliband, MP and Shadow Secretary of State of Climate Change and Net Zero. He spoke to several of our partners on his way to his talk on the main stage.
All in all, we had a busy two days in London, saw thousands of people, and did a thorough job at sharing our collective message.
