Yorkshire Health programme Wins National Award
8 April 2026
A Yorkshire health project has been named a winner at the 2026 HSJ Partnership Awards, recognising the people and projects improving outcomes for patients nationwide.
The South Yorkshire Primary Care Capital Programme won the top prize in the category of Healthcare Infrastructure Project of the Year, for the partnership between NHS South Yorkshire ICS and estates consultants Sewell Advisory.
The £57m South Yorkshire Primary Care Capital Programme is a unique and highly ambitious collaboration delivering transformational change in GP estate across the region. Comprising eleven projects ranging from refurbishment through to large new-build health centres, the programme represents delivery at a scale and complexity not previously seen in primary care.
Judges praised the innovative funding model of the programme, and the way it combined local leadership, genuine collaboration and navigating legal and financial complexity to deliver infrastructure at real scale.
The HSJ Partnership Awards have become the most recognised and respected mark of the strongest relationships between suppliers and the NHS. This year, the Awards received 240+entries, with 160 projects shortlisted, and just 25 winners selected by a panel of expert judges.
Lee Outhwaite, Chief Financial Officer of South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, said: “A big thank you to GP, local government and ICB colleagues in Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and North Notts, as well as Sewell Advisory colleagues, who helped win this HSJ Partnership Award. Colleagues won for their great collaborative working and delivering a really complex programme of work, which can help act as a blueprint for integrated neighbourhood health.”
Emma Bolton, Chief Executive at Sewell Advisory, said: “It’s been an amazing experience to be recognised for this award. It shows that others value the hard work and dedication our team puts in each day to make things better for patients, and shows how collaboration can be forged when the very best sides of the public and private sectors work together in partnership. This programme has been nine years in the making, and demonstrates what can happen with creativity, determination and long-term relationships.”
Winners were announced at the awards ceremony on 19th March 2026 at Evolution London.
