Hull Maritime Museum - Industry Insight
Bondholders were recently given exclusive access to one of the region’s most significant heritage redevelopment projects, as part of a unique Industry Insight experience.
The event began at Ferens Art Gallery, where attendees were introduced to the scope and ambition of the £65 million Hull Maritime Project. From there, the group moved across Queen Victoria Square for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Hull Maritime Museum, led by members of the project team from Hull City Council and Hull Museums.
Behind the Scenes of a Landmark Redevelopment
Guests were among the first to step inside the newly restored museum, gaining early access before the fit-out of the collections begins. The transformation of the Grade II* listed building was clear to see, with architectural features reinstated, new gallery spaces created, and significant improvements made to public access and visitor facilities.
Key moments included:
- A sneak preview of upcoming exhibitions, designed to showcase over 800 years of Hull’s maritime history through interactive storytelling and immersive displays.
- Insights into the complex conservation work required to restore and modernise the heritage building.
- A look ahead to the museum’s ambitious vision to position Hull as a world-class maritime city and inspire future generations through education and cultural engagement.
“This event offered an exclusive glimpse into one of Humber's most iconic buildings and the incredible effort going into preserving and reimagining its story. It’s projects like this that remind us why place matters – and why we should be proud to shout about it,” said Olly Burdett, Content and Design Executive at Future Humber.
Connecting Through the Bondholder Network
In addition to the tour, the event offered valuable networking opportunities, bringing together professionals and businesses from across the Humber to share insights and strengthen connections.
The Industry Insight series continues to provide exclusive access to pioneering projects across the region, celebrating the Humber’s remarkable places, people and progress.
