Quickline has surpassed key delivery milestones in South Yorkshire as part of its Project Gigabit contract – the UK Government programme delivering gigabit-capable broadband to hard-to-reach rural communities – accelerating access to fast, reliable broadband for rural and underserved communities.

Having been awarded the South Yorkshire Lot 20) contract in April 2024, Quickline has already delivered full fibre connectivity to almost 9,000 funded premises across areas including Westwoodside, Dinnington, Kiveton, Barnby Dunn, Crowle, Adwick, Conisbrough, Hoyland, Royston and Bramley.

The company has exceeded its second major contract milestone ahead of schedule. While the target was to reach 8,049 premises by end of March 2026, Quickline achieved this in mid-February 2026, extending coverage to 8,840 premises by the end of March.

This rapid progress is helping to close the digital divide across South Yorkshire, ensuring more homes and businesses can benefit from gigabit-capable connectivity to support work, education and everyday life.

Take-up across the network is currently around 11%, with further growth expected as awareness increases and more communities come online.

Alongside its infrastructure rollout, Quickline has delivered a strong programme of social value activity across the region, supporting local communities and helping more people access digital opportunities.

To date, the company has:

· Delivered 12 careers events, with more ongoing

· Donated 95 tablets and Chromebooks to support digital inclusion

· Partnered with the South Yorkshire Careers Hub to launch a new programme of careers engagement, with events already underway

Quickline has also supported local employment initiatives, donating £20,000 so far to Suit Works to help job seekers access opportunities, with a further contribution planned.

In addition, its partnership with Tech She Can has delivered technology workshops to 20 schools across South Yorkshire, with 10 more scheduled before the end of the contract.

Carly Mellor, who is leading the network rollout project for Quickline across South Yorkshire, said: “This is a significant milestone for our South Yorkshire rollout and a testament to the pace and quality of delivery from our teams on the ground.

“Reaching more than 8,800 premises ahead of schedule means thousands more homes and businesses can now access the connectivity they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

“But our work is about more than infrastructure. Through our social value programme, we are investing in skills, education and opportunity to ensure the communities we serve can fully benefit from the connectivity we are delivering.”

Quickline continues to work closely with local partners and stakeholders to maximise both the economic and social impact of its rollout, supporting the Government’s ambition to deliver nationwide gigabit-capable broadband.
