Local Nature Recovery Strategy Consultation

2 June 2025

Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) are a key component of the Environment Act (2021). They are a suite of new spatial strategies across England which will identify locations to improve nature and provide other environmental benefits, such as carbon sequestration, flood regulation, and access to nature-rich spaces. These strategies will complement one another to restore, create and connect habitats across England following the principles of spaces for nature being “bigger, better and more joined up”.

The consultation window for the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy (HEY LNRS) is open from Friday 9 May to Sunday 22 June, 2025.

This strategy aims to tackle the significant loss of nature across the region to create a Hull and East Yorkshire where nature, people and places thrive together.

Whether you’re a resident, farmer, community group, business owner, or nature enthusiast, they want to hear from you! Share your priorities for nature and your thoughts on the draft HEY LNRS.

Your input will play a vital role in shaping the final strategy, ensuring it reflects the diverse needs of the region’s natural environment and aligns with the needs and aspirations of everyone in Hull and East Yorkshire.

They have a number of online and in-person events planned for over the consultation period, including drop-in sessions at libraries and dedicated 1-2-1 online slots for farmers, land owners and managers, and relevant businesses.
