Managing Director | Full time | £55,000–£70,000
Shape a stronger future for Humber.
Humber is at a defining moment. Its strengths in energy, ports and logistics, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, food, digital innovation and global trade create an opportunity of national and international significance. Future Humber is seeking an exceptional leader to turn that potential into influence, investment and lasting impact.
The opportunity
As Managing Director, you will lead Future Humber through an important period of opportunity and change. Working with the Board, team, Bondholders and regional partners, you will shape a clear and sustainable future for the organisation, strengthen its role as a trusted pan-Humber convener and champion, and translate shared ambition into practical outcomes.
This is not a role with a ready-made path. It is an opportunity to define what comes next: refining Future Humber’s operating model and proposition, building alignment across public and private sectors, and positioning the organisation to make the greatest possible contribution to Humber’s long-term success.
Your impact
- Set the direction: work with the Board and team to shape strategy, priorities and a deliverable plan.
- Lead through change: provide visible, confident leadership while maintaining momentum across existing commitments.
- Connect and influence: bring together businesses, local and combined authorities, education, anchor institutions, government and regional partners.
- Turn ambition into action: oversee strategic programmes and commissions, connect priorities across Place, Investment and Talent, and create meaningful outcomes.
- Build for the future: strengthen governance, commercial sustainability, partnerships and the organisation’s regional and national influence.
- Inspire the team: create clarity, confidence and a culture of trust, ambition, collaboration and accountability.
About you
You will be an experienced and credible strategic leader, confident at executive level and comfortable navigating uncertainty, organisational change and complex regional relationships. Commercially aware and delivery focused, you will combine sound judgement with the ability to build trust, influence senior leaders and bring people together around a shared ambition.
Experience across public and private sector environments, and an understanding of regional growth, place leadership, economic development or a related field, will be important. Above all, you will share our belief in Humber’s potential and bring the energy, authenticity and determination to help realise it.
Why Future Humber?
Future Humber is an independent, business-led organisation with a powerful network spanning major international businesses, anchor institutions, ambitious SMEs and growing organisations. We put place before organisation—connecting people, championing Humber’s strengths and creating the partnerships that make progress possible.
