The Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC) is looking for a talented individual to join their team for a one-year placement designed to help you gain experience while contributing to our work to prevent serious violence.
- You will ideally have excellent research and people skills, with an interest in violence prevention, public health approaches and specifically, knowledge of male perpetrated abuse and violence.
- You will be joining a busy team, working primarily with staff from our Humber Violence Prevention Partnership (VPP). As a White Ribbon accredited organisation, the OPCC are keen to expand its work in this area and understand how to better engage men and boys in the conversation around preventing violence against women and girls; this may take the form of leading focus groups, collating best practice and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
- Over the course of your placement your work will include supporting team members working on a variety of projects, helping you to develop your research, analytical and organisational skills. You will have opportunities to attend and take part in internal and external meetings and events, helping you to build your experience and professional network.
- You will have the opportunity to work with analysts and practitioners from across the criminal justice sector and will be encouraged to grow your relationships and knowledge and supported to continue your professional development.
- You should be able to demonstrate excellent research capability and understand how best to engage people from a range of backgrounds using your ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and easy to understand manner.
- You will be encouraged to experiment, learn additional skills and, as far as possible, select the most appropriate methodology for the task.
