The strategic marketing and communications agency is working with Yorkshire Children’s Charity (YCC) to raise awareness of its work and help generate vital support for its 2026 Winter Essentials campaign.

Over 3000 children need help with some of the basic essentials to ensure they can arrive at school warm, dry and ready to learn. The campaign provides children facing the toughest circumstances with practical items including warm coats, suitable shoes, bedding and toiletries.

This month, the Fred Marketing team will be launching a campaign supporting the charity’s warehouse team who are running the pick-and-pack operation to help prepare essential items for distribution to children through its network of schools and trusted referral partners.

For Fred Marketing, the partnership is particularly important because YCC’s work is already making a difference much closer to home.

Thousands of children and families across Hull and East Yorkshire are already being supported by Yorkshire Children’s Charity, and the charity says the need for help has increased further this year.

Emma Pearson-Kendall Managing Director at Fred Marketing, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have been chosen to support Yorkshire Children’s Charity. As a Hull based agency, knowing that its work is already reaching thousands of children and families across Hull and East Yorkshire makes this partnership particularly meaningful to us.

“But it also brings home the reality of what some children in our own communities are facing. Having a warm coat or a pair of shoes that keeps your feet dry shouldn’t be the reason a child can or can’t get to school.

“Our role is to help YCC tell that story, reach more people and, importantly, turn that awareness into financial support.

“We know how generous the Hull and East Yorkshire business community can be. If individuals and businesses across our region get behind this campaign, together we can help more local children stay warm and dry this winter, so they can get to school and take part in school life.” Anyone wishing to support or donate can do so here.

Yorkshire Children’s Charity works closely with schools and trusted professionals across Yorkshire to identify children who need support and make sure practical help reaches the right families.

The 2025 Winter Support Campaign provided winter essentials to 2,373 children across Yorkshire. Of the children supported, 98% did not have a winter coat, 94% did not have appropriate footwear and 84% did not have bedding. This year more children than ever need help.

Charlotte Farrington, Founder and CEO of Yorkshire Children’s Charity, said: “We’re delighted to have Fred Marketing alongside us. They understand Yorkshire, they understand the strength of its business community and, most importantly, they understand that everything we do has to come back to making things better for children.

The campaign is about so much more than giving a child a coat or shoes or bedding. It's about getting them through the school gates ready to learn. Giving teachers the opportunity to build trust with families. Removing barriers before a child's school day has even begun.

Ultimately, it's about giving them a fairer chance.

The campaign Fred have developed will really help us convey that.

This is why we are asking people and businesses across Hull and East Yorkshire to stand with us this winter. We want to help as many children as possible and every donation matters as it will help us put practical support into the hands of a child who needs it .”

YCC’s Winter Essentials campaign is part of the charity’s wider work supporting children and young people across Yorkshire who are at a disadvantage due to sickness, disability or financial challenges.

Since Yorkshire Children’s Charity was founded in 2022, it has supported more than 73,500 children and young people across the county.
