Helios, the giant Sun sculpture by British artist Luke Jerram is set to shine at Grimsby Minster for a further week.

Arts organisation The Culture House has arranged with the creator for Helios to stay in the town until Sunday 10 May.

Since opening on April 9, Helios – sponsored by Ørsted, AP Robinson and RSUK Group has attracted thousands of visitors, who have been enjoying its glow as well as a multitude of additional events and activities, including live music, sunset yoga, children’s eco activities and more.

Charlotte Bowen, Culture House director, said:

“The past few weeks have been absolutely amazing for Grimsby as we’ve hosted this world-touring artwork in the Minster, attracting thousands of visitors and audiences for events. It’s been extremely positive and there’s been such good feedback.

“The Culture House has hosted 22 events and activities around the installation as we’ve shined a spotlight on the area and on local talent and creativity, while bringing national artists and performers to town and providing opportunities for young people to get creative while considering the world around them.”

“We weren’t quite ready for the sun to go down and Luke Jerram generously agreed Helios could shine in Grimsby for another week”.

Helios can be enjoyed Tuesday to Friday 9.30pm - 2.30pm, Saturday 9.30am - 1.30pm and Sunday 1pm - 4pm. Bookings now aren’t necessary.
