Grimsby Institute student, William Jervis, has been selected to represent England in karate at the World Karate Federation’s 2025 Senior European Championships.

This May, the 17-year-old will travel to Yerevan, Armenia, where he will compete in the male ‘Para Kata’ category. Kata is a choreographed pattern of movements and techniques practised, representing a fight.
This is a monumental achievement, as only one individual from England is chosen to represent the country in this category.
William, who studies Foundations at the Grimsby Institute, expressed his excitement, saying:
“I am so proud of myself for being selected to represent England. I can’t wait to go to the Senior European Championships, and I’m going to smash it out of the park!”
Sally Wright, Inclusion Manager at the Grimsby Institute, said:
“The Grimsby Institute is immensely proud of William and wishes him the best of luck on the international stage. We are confident that he will make both the Grimsby Institute and the country proud.”
This prestigious event will be the perfect stage for William to showcase his dedication, hard work, and passion for karate.
