East Yorkshire employer commits to ‘buying local’ by signing The Supply Chain Network Promise
18 March 2025
Flood Technology Group is the latest East Yorkshire business to have joined The Supply Chain Network and, at the same time, made a promise to use local and regional suppliers wherever possible when sourcing goods and services.

Using The Supply Chain Network’s Supplier Directory and Opportunities Map, businesses can promote any tenders and opportunities they have on offer to other businesses within their locality, as well as seeing those that are open to them. What’s more, by signing up to The Supply Chain Network Promise and downloading a free branding pack, they can now also proudly display their commitment to buying local and helping the region to prosper.
Simon Gilliland, Chief Executive of Flood Technology Group, said: “We’re a relatively new but growing organisation with a manufacturing base at Snaith in East Yorkshire and our headquarters just down the road at Great Heck.
“Since launching the business in November 2023, we’ve been developing a supply chain to allow us to manufacture our flood resilience products and roll them out to customers across a number of different sectors. We’ve tried really hard to identify local and regional suppliers to work with, wherever possible. We were keen to create a listing on The Supply Chain Network platform that would allow us to collaborate with other local suppliers and service providers, but we also wanted to take this a step further by formally showing our commitment to the local economy by signing up to The Supply Chain Network Promise.
“Displaying The Supply Chain Network Promise branding helps to further raise awareness of the wider benefits of buying local, but it’s also great kudos for our business, sending out a powerful message to our employees, customers, suppliers and competitors.”
Dawn Hall, Business Support Services Manager at Invest East Yorkshire, explained the benefits of signing up to The Supply Chain Network Promise: “We recognise that most businesses are conscious of the benefits of buying local and already committed to doing so where possible, but is this clear to your customers, suppliers and investors? By signing up to The Supply Chain Network Promise, you can raise awareness of the fact that you’re committed to buying local and a proud champion of the regional economy.
“As well as driving down costs for your business by working with local producers and suppliers, this will help you appeal to a wider market of potential suppliers, and enhance or cement your reputation with your customers, employees and suppliers as an ethical business.”
If your business does not yet have a listing in The Supply Chain Network’s directory, you can set one up and sign up to The Promise at the same time by visiting: https://thesupplychainnetwork.co.uk.
If you already have a business listing, you can sign up to newly-launched Supply Chain Promise through the ‘edit listing’ page.
Managed by Invest East Yorkshire, which is part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, The Supply Chain Network aims to support the growth of the regional economy by linking businesses across the Yorkshire, Humber and Greater Lincolnshire region to the wealth of opportunities available to them.
