City of Hull Street Angels launches search for new Chair of Trustees

The appointment follows the announcement that Jamie Lewis MBE will step down as Chair at the end of 2026, after helping guide the organisation through a significant period of growth and development.

In recent years, City of Hull Street Angels has strengthened its volunteer network and partnerships across Hull, introduced a new uniform, and invested in the infrastructure that supports its vital work. Its volunteers are a highly visible, reassuring and compassionate presence in the city’s night-time economy, providing practical help to people when they need it most. This exceptional contribution has been recognised with the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Jamie will remain in post until the end of the year and will support the successful candidate through a comprehensive induction and handover during January and February 2027.

“Serving as Chair of City of Hull Street Angels has been an enormous privilege. It is a charity that is genuinely loved by the people involved in it and respected across our city, and I am incredibly proud to have played a part in its journey.

“What has always made Street Angels special is its people. Our volunteers turn up week after week with compassion, humility and a simple determination to help others when they need it most.

“Alongside them, we have built a committed Board, trusted partnerships and much stronger foundations for the future.

“As I come to the end of my term, it feels like the right moment to hand the baton on. The charity is in a strong position, but there is still so much potential ahead: to reach more people, grow our volunteer family, strengthen our sustainability and play an even greater role in keeping Hull safe.

“I will always be incredibly proud to have been part of the Street Angels family, and I look forward to supporting the next Chair as they take the organisation into its next chapter.”

The new Chair will provide strategic leadership to the Board of Trustees, help shape the charity’s future direction and act as an ambassador for City of Hull Street Angels across the city.

The role is an opportunity for someone with leadership experience, a commitment to community safety and a passion for supporting volunteers to make a meaningful difference in Hull.

Applications are now open and will close on Friday 20 November 2026. In-person interviews will take place during the week commencing 7 December, with an appointment expected by Friday 18 December.
