Founded by Executive Chairman Charlie Spencer OBE in 1989, the entrepreneurial company has its headquarters in Hull, East Yorkshire.
Spencer Group specialises in the design and build of multi-disciplinary engineering projects, working across the UK’s rail network, maintaining suspension and multi-span bridges and providing materials handling and bulk storage solutions.
Its specialist in-house teams for Bridge, Rail, Building and Civil Engineering work collaboratively with clients, asset owners, maintainers and operators, as well as third party stakeholders, to safely deliver outstanding projects which leave a positive legacy in the local communities in which they work.
Bridge Engineering
Spencer Group’s specialist Bridges team carries out maintenance and repair work on some of the UK’s most iconic crossings, including the Humber, Forth, Erskine, Severn and Menai bridges.
The company is a world leader in high-level bridge works, having developed the trademarked Cable Crawler gantry system to enable vital dehumidification work to prevent corrosion of cables on the Severn, Forth Road and Humber suspension bridges, as well as the Alvsborg Bridge in Sweden.
Rail Engineering
Spencer Group is a principal infrastructure contractor for Network Rail, operating nationally on a variety of complex rail infrastructure projects, both directly and for a number of train operating companies. It also specialises in delivering tailored upgrade and renewal solutions at depot facilities across the UK.
M&E services are delivered fully in-house working across all areas of the business, bringing several benefits to clients including a single team approach and introducing value engineering during the early stages of a project.
Building and Civil Engineering
Spencer Group’s Building and civil engineering team has significant experience in industrial, commercial, retail and leisure and healthcare facilities.
Working with its clients from concept design through to detailed design development, robust feasibility, construction and final handover.
It prides itself on delivering innovative solutions to complex issues, achieved through its in-house design team, which prioritises buildability and is focused on keeping disruption to a minimum.
