Fancy performing in a brand-new musical at Hull Truck Theatre? This is your chance!

In July 2024, Hull Truck Theatre and Hull Maritime will present the World Premiere of their new musical: Guts! The Musical by Maureen Lennon – on stage from Saturday 29 June – Saturday 6 July. The aspiration is for the production to be entirely performed by local people from Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Hull Truck Theatre are on the lookout for around 60 adults (18+) from the surrounding area to take to the stage and bring the production to life. No experience is needed! There are singing roles, non-singing roles, speaking roles, non-speaking roles, dancing roles and non-dancing roles. The only requirement is that participants need to be able to attend most of the rehearsals and be fully available for technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and all the performance dates.

The story is based on real life events which form part of Hull’s rich local maritime history. Following a dedicated Union Rep on his fight for factory workers, this is a whirlwind re-telling of the groundbreaking case which changed the equalities act in the UK forever.

Tom Sauders, Director of Guts! The Musical, said:

“We are so excited to officially open our community cast recruitment window for Guts! The Musical. If you’re interested in finding out more about the production and what taking part will entail, we’d urge you to attend one of our taster workshops. There is no formal auditions process… and most importantly, anyone 18+ who wishes to take part is very welcome. You don’t need any experience; you just need to be up for getting stuck in.”

“Both Hull Truck Theatre and Hull Maritime are delighted to see the whole community come together to present this highly entertaining and fun show which is based on a true story with links to our rich maritime heritage.”

A series of taster workshops will be held at Hull Truck Theatre throughout February and March for anyone who might be interested to know more about the show in an informal and relaxed environment.
