Creating Hope Through Action: Mental Health in the Workplace

Thursday, 22 September 2022

Rollits LLP, High Street, Hull

The Young Talent Network was delighted to partner with Hull & East Yorkshire Mind for its latest personal development event - workplace mental health training. The training was delivered interactively with practical exercises, participation from attendees and the opportunity for questions and discussion, using Mentimeter, by Yvonne Sharp, a fully-qualified Mind trainer.

According to Mind, one in six people will experience a mental health problem at work in any given week. Often, the people they are surrounded by will have no idea. If they do, they may not know how to help. The partnership with HEY Mind for this event placed mental health at the forefront, reminding employees and employers of the importance of wellbeing in the workplace.

Benefits of the session:

• Improved understanding and awareness of the role and skills of Mental Health Champions

• Increased confidence to start mental health conversations at work

• Knowledge of signposting and support options

• Gained awareness of opportunities and solutions for wellbeing activities

• Reflected on the importance of self-care in the role of Mental Health Champion

What was included in the session?

• What mental health is and how to challenge stigma

• A basic knowledge of some common mental health problems

• An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing

• Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing poor mental health
