Equinor is a Norwegian energy company operating globally, employing over 22,000 people across 36 countries. In the UK it is increasingly focused on renewables, such as Dogger Bank windfarm, and Low Carbon Solutions, such as H2H Saltend and the Zero Carbon Humber initiative.

Equinor is the largest single energy provider to the UK, supplying 25% of its gas, enough to heat or power 8 million British homes and businesses every year, and is the largest crude oil supplier to the UK.

Once built, the Dogger Bank windfarm off the East Yorkshire coast, will be the world’s largest offshore windfarm.

Equinor has bold ambitions to be a leader in hydrogen and carbon capture in the UK and Europe, with interests in multiple clusters by 2035. As a company, it plans to be net zero by 2050, meaning an increasing focus on renewables and low carbon solutions.

Within the Humber, its flagship project is the H2H Saltend hydrogen production facility which can reduce emissions at Saltend Chemicals Park by around a third. It is also partnered with SSE Thermal on the potential use of the existing Aldbrough gas storage facility for hydrogen storage, and on Keadby Hydrogen, which would be the world’s first 100% hydrogen power station.

Equinor led the UKRI bid for the Zero Carbon Humber partnership, which aims to make the Humber the world’s first net zero industrial region by 2040. It is also a central partner on the East Coast Cluster and Northern Endurance Partnership, which link the Humber and Teesside together with common offshore infrastructure for CO2 storage.
