Women into Manufacturing and Engineering (WiME) is a business led programme supported by Hull City, East Riding, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire Councils, to encourage girls and women to choose a career in these industries.

We started in 2016 with 3 companies supporting us and have now run events on both the north and south bank of the Humber with over 50 locally based companies taking part.  Our events are different to normal careers events - we aim to invite only girls and women to take part.  We find that when girls meet women from local firms that are having fantastic STEM based careers it really helps them to see the amazing possibilities for them.

During the pandemic we successfully took our events online.  We ran events for both primary and secondary school pupils.  For 2022 our plan is to work with our amazing WiME Partner companies so that face to face events can return and to expand our offering to primary schools.

Collaboration with locally based organisations is key to inspiring our region's future workforce.  So we are very happy to be part of the Bondholder family.  All organisations we work with are keen to recruit a diverse talent pool to their teams.  We already have fantastic female role models in our region.  By working together we help to make these women more visible to other girls and women and we strengthen the message that the manufacturing and engineering sector is a place where they are going to made very welcome and can thrive.
