Ron Dearing UTC is a school that means business. It adopts a business-like approach to learning and fosters innovation, creativity and entrepreneurialism, enabling students to apply academic learning to develop solutions to real-world business issues faced by the school’s Employer Partners.

The Ofsted “Outstanding”-rated UTC caters for students aged between 14 and 19, offering a unique model of employer-led education with a specialist focus on the creative arts, digital technology,  computing and engineering.

Following backing from the Department for Education’s (DoE) Post-16 Capacity Fund, Ron Dearing UTC increased its capacity from 600 to 800 students with the opening of its new centre for creativity, STEAM Studios. Hull’s former Central Fire Station has been transformed to house this inspiring creative hub.

The school has been oversubscribed since it opened its doors in 2017 and continues to significantly outperform the national averages for GCSE, A-level and technical qualification outcomes.

Ron Dearing UTC’s vision is to “unlock our students’ infinite potential to excel.” The school’s mission is “to provide a unique employer-driven education to give our young people the edge in a rapidly-evolving digital world.”

Becoming a Bondholder is important to the UTC as it continues to build a strong network of Employer Partners, inspiring the next generation of leaders and equipping them with specialist skills and knowledge for exciting careers and bright futures.
