The Security Guard’s main duties are to ensure the security of the buildings and property of The Deep overnight and the well-being of the live animal exhibits through systems monitoring. You shall maintain the security of the site using CCTV cameras as well as patrols. You shall be responsible for liaising with Crew on call with regards building systems as well as fish Life Support Systems. Cleaning and portering duties are also involved as well as support for evening events. You shall be working alone for most of the time so will be responsible for ensuring your own safety at all times, complying with their lone working procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Site security through patrols, CCTV monitoring and liaison with other Crew and outside organisations.
  • Efficient, timely and correct completion of monitoring checklists for equipment (particularly aquarium life support systems), building maintenance and safety checks.
  • General cleaning and portering tasks as directed in a regular schedule of work.
  • Assistance with evening commercial activities (for example corporate events and sleepovers), liaising with the event manager, to help with set-up, running and break down of events. This may include some customer contact and support.
  • Working with the Duty Manager to ensure safe and efficient building clearance and lock-up including cash security.
  • Efficient hand-over and briefing to early morning Crew.
  • Setting and monitoring of appropriate security alarms.
  • Liaison with on-call Crew and emergency services as required, ensuring adequate response to equipment, building and site management issues.
  • Liaison with out-of-hours contractors as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Compliance with all Safe Systems of Work, including lone working procedures and protocols, including check-in calls to monitoring service.
  • Use of two-way radios, mobile phones and landlines to communicate essential information.
  • Assistance in the positive promotion of the image of The Deep at all times.
  • Ensuring that the company’s policy on Health and Safety is adhered to during your work activities.
  • Train other Crew who are new to the job, when necessary, in the Night Security Guard role.
  • Comply with the rota as set out by the Facilities Manager.
  • Cooperate fully with the entire Crew of The Deep with the aim of making The Deep a truly world class Visitor Attraction.
