Job summary:

Tranby, East Yorkshire, seeks a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our school as a Sports Graduate Teacher. This position offers an exciting opportunity for sports enthusiasts who have recently graduated and are eager to contribute to the development of young athletes. As a Sports Graduate Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging sports education, fostering skill development, and inspiring students to achieve their full potential. Tranby’s goal is to ensure and celebrate ‘sport for all’, and you will be a key figure in ensuring we constantly meet this expectation. We offer opportunities for professional development and growth within our institution, and within the wider United Learning training systems. There may be scope in future years to support the post-holder with securing qualified teacher status.

Main responsibilities:
• Design and deliver sports-related lesson plans, ensuring alignment with curriculum objectives and the needs of students across various age groups.
• Teach and mentor students in sports-related subjects.
• Provide expert instruction and guidance in areas such as sports techniques, rules, strategies, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fitness training.
• Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to develop their physical abilities, enhance their sports skills, and improve overall fitness levels.
• Plan and organize sporting events and competitions.
• Coordinate and oversee various sports activities, including inter-school competitions, sports festivals, and intra-school events, promoting healthy competition and sportsmanship among students.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through assessment and monitoring of students' performance, providing constructive feedback and implementing strategies to address individual needs and improve overall sports proficiency.
• Collaborate with colleagues and parents/guardians.

• Work closely with other teachers, coaches, and parents/guardians to create a cohesive and collaborative sports education environment, facilitating open communication and parental involvement.
• Stay abreast of current trends, techniques, rules, and regulations in various sports disciplines, continuously enhancing your own knowledge and expertise to deliver the best possible instruction to students.
• Prioritize the safety and well-being of students during sports activities, implementing appropriate safety measures, and promptly addressing any concerns or incidents.


General staff responsibilities at Tranby:
• Consistently contribute to providing for a positive morale and community spirit in the school.
• Meet responsibilities with regard to health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant legislation and confirm to professional and ethical requirements.
• Take responsibility for promoting the safeguarding and welfare of the children and young persons for whom they are responsible or with whom they come into contact.
• Assist with development of strong links with other schools both in United Learning and the local area.
• Provide any and all assistance as may be reasonably required from time to time by the Head Mistress or other senior leaders in order to ensure and facilitate the efficient running of the school.


Qualifications, knowledge and skills:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
• Passion for sports: a genuine love for sports and a strong desire to inspire young athletes. Previous coaching, mentoring, or teaching experience is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate complex sports concepts to students of different age groups and skill levels, as well as collaborate with colleagues and engage with parents/guardians.
• Organizational and leadership abilities: Strong organizational skills to plan and manage sports events, along with leadership qualities to guide and motivate students in their sports journey.
• Knowledge of sports techniques and rules: Thorough understanding of various sports disciplines, including their techniques, rules, and strategies. Proficiency in multiple sports is advantageous. We would particularly welcome those with expertise in Rugby and Cricket.
• Physical fitness and stamina: Good personal physical fitness to actively participate in sports activities and serve as a role model for students.
• Flexibility and adaptability: Willingness to adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners and the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities in a dynamic educational setting.
