Led by the University of Hull, the Aura Innovation Centre (AIC) supports Humber businesses by giving them access to cutting-edge facilities, specialist funded support, a space to innovate and collaborate as well as research and academia links.

Aura Innovation Centre’s offering currently includes a collaborative workspace (AuraFlex), versatile event spaces covering small meetings to large conferences (ConneX) and a flexible innovation space (InventX) that connects industry with the research power of the university to deliver impactful innovative projects. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

The Digital Marketing Intern will be assisting in developing and executing marketing strategies to increase brand awareness and generate engagement – with a primary focus on using social media platforms for better visibility and engagement and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

The AIC is currently in a stage of transition, with social media and SEO key areas to drive the centre forward to reaching its potential to influence, and strengthen its charge as a gateway for innovation in the region – this 12-week internship project will provide a strong footing in delivering its long-term plans and objectives.

With guidance, the Marketing Intern will take ownership of the AIC digital marketing area, and work closely with the existing Marketing Coordinator & outgoing external contractor regards marketing strategy and structure.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a dynamic current student/finalist, with a clear passion and skill set in digital marketing – specifically social media and SEO.

The candidate will;

  • Support the Marketing Coordinator in delivery of fluid marketing plans (differing per AIC offering), whilst providing input and creativity along the way!
  • Have an existing knowledge of SEO, supporting the Marketing Coordinator to develop and implement effective SEO strategies to drive organic traffic and improve search engine rankings – including conducting keyword research, on-page and off-page optimization, and SEO audits
  • Generate reports on SEO, campaign performance and key metrics for review by supervisors
  • Support with social media campaigns aligned with the marketing plans – including creating, writing, and scheduling social media posts across various social media platforms such as X (Twitter), and LinkedIn to increase awareness of the AIC brand and offering 
  • Assist in creating engaging and compelling general content such as social media posts, blog articles, newsletters, and website content
  • Assist in the creation of marketing collateral, such as brochures, presentations, case studies, and sales support materials
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, target audience, and consumer preferences to gather valuable insights for marketing campaigns and strategies – finding relevant successful social media posts and campaigns to benchmark activity against the industry
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging marketing tools and technologies, and best practices to contribute fresh ideas and insights to the Marketing Coordinator
  • The role may be required from time to time to support the Meeting and Event Coordinator with general event support such as clearing event rooms, setting up refreshments and setting up event spaces. There will be a 60/40 split on duties to support events that are delivered at the AIC.
