We’re a cultural development organisation passionate about the ability of arts and culture to be a vehicle for change. We seek out opportunities to strengthen Hull’s cultural landscape and the role it can have in the city’s growth and development; for all of its residents.

We operate Humber Street Gallery, the region’s only contemporary visual arts space, which has attracted over 25,000 visitors since May 2018.

We manage the blue coated volunteers who support many of the city’s events and organisations. There are over 1,200 of them who contributed over 70,000 hours of time in 2019.

We have provided support local artists writing fundraising bids, helping them to secure over £250,000 of funds for the city.

It’s our ambition to help make Hull and even better place to live, work, visit and learn. We will continue programming and curating exhibitions, performances, installations and events; delivering our social action and volunteering programme that will have positive effects on every part of the city; and our talent development and learning activity, giving everyone the opportunity to get creative.

We’re excited by the future that will continue to include delivering a high-quality cultural programme, building on our work in communities, developing new partnerships and exploring the opportunities to establish a new creative centre in the city as a base for Absolutely Cultured. We are also working towards becoming one of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations, which will secure long-term funding for the organisation.

We’re delighted to be members of the Bondholder’s scheme. We all have a responsibility for marketing the city, with our collective efforts being much greater than each of us individually and Bondholders provides us with a platform to do that. We also really value being members of an organisation that cuts across sectors, by meeting with others, we have the opportunity to ensure that our work complements and enhances the story that the wider city is telling and allows us to understand how we can work with others to harness the power of arts and culture to help us all achieve our goals.
