A single professional service culture for the University underpins close partnering and seamless service provision across professional staff in central and Faculty teams.
The Experiential Learning (EL) team manages a range of work placement, internship, field trip, study abroad, and international development opportunities for students. as well as supporting a range of other student employability and development initiatives. It works closely with internal and external partners in the identification, development and delivery of experiential learning opportunities, and provides advice and support to students and partners.
Experiential Learning is located in the Student Development directorate of the University’s Academic Services portfolio, which provides services and support to students from the point of application to graduation, as well as teaching administration support to Faculties and Schools. The Academic Services team aims to ensure that students can articulate and achieve their goals, make the most of their time at the University, and access the support they need, when they need it.
About Role:
The Professional Placement Team is part of a larger team supporting student participation in experiential and co-curricular learning opportunities; the role specially focuses on leading a team supporting professional placements. As the workload ebbs and flows throughout the year, the post-holder will need to be agile and support their colleagues and areas of work as required.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post:
- Provide administrative support to staff, students and more senior colleagues. The role will involve maintaining systems and/or undertaking routine tasks that support the working of teams, processes and/ or projects. Require the relevant knowledge which may be gained through experience and on the-job training.
- Supporting undergraduate placement programmes working closely with the wider Student Development directorate.
- Support and coordinate the administration process associated with the allocation of students to professional placements; including liaison with placement providers and working within regulatory guidelines.
- To use partner IT systems (eg ARC) to update and monitor students’ status, attendance and progress, producing reports as required.
- Support and coordinate the Administering of financial processes associated with placements.
