Hull Community Fund launched: A new way to give back in Hull

Leaders from Hull’s corporate, public and charitable sectors gathered at Hull Minster to launch the Hull Community Fund, a new initiative aimed at creating a healthier and fairer city. The event highlighted the importance of community contributions and showcased the impact of funding on local charitable activities.
Guests were welcomed by the Outkast Panda Crew, who shared their story of engaging young people through car maintenance and rallying. The Bora Shabaa Refugee choir also performed, adding to the evening’s vibrant atmosphere.
Harriet Johnson, Head of Partnerships at Two Ridings Community Foundation, praised Hull’s creativity and resilience, emphasising the fund’s role in enhancing the city’s vibrancy. Chief Executive, Celia McKeon explained the fund’s purpose, stressing the need for thriving, connected communities and the critical support local organisations provide.
The Hull Community Fund starts with £50,000 in seed funding from the Rank Foundation and Alderman Jackson. Celia McKeon called for further contributions to expand the fund’s impact, highlighting the partnership between Hull City Council, Hull CVS, HEY Smile Foundation, and Forum.
Jonny Cahill from Outkast Panda Crew discussed their efforts to combat antisocial behaviour, and young people from Maxlife Youth Project performed a dance, demonstrating the confidence they gained through the programme.
Ian Anderson from Hull City Council underscored the city’s needs and the importance of a dedicated fund for Hull. Community leaders shared stories of their work, illustrating the tangible benefits of funding.
The Hull Community Fund is now open for small charitable groups in Hull. It focuses on six key areas:
- Safe and welcoming neighbourhoods
- A healthier and fairer Hull
- Reaching our potential
- Economic growth that works for all
- Responding to the climate and nature emergency
- Our culture, our heritage, our city
The launch event, sponsored by Titan Private Wealth and CCLA Investment Management, celebrated community investment and the power of collective action to support Hull’s vital charities and organisations.
