Entitled ‘Is starting a business right for me?’, the workshop will be held at RaisE Business Centre on Tom Pudding Way in Goole between 5pm and 8pm on Tuesday 17 September.

The three-hour session is aimed at those who are interested in launching their own business but unsure how to go about it. It aims to dispel some of the myths around how to start a business and will offer useful tips on everything from researching your ideas and writing a business plan to working out whether your idea is viable, assessing the competition and ensuring that you’re legally set up to run a business.

The Business Support Services team’s experienced and knowledgeable advisors will talk those who attend the workshop through everything they need to think about in order to get their new business venture off the ground.

Dawn Hall, Business Support Services Manager for Invest East Yorkshire, said: “This free workshop is a great opportunity for anyone who has a business idea but is not quite sure where to begin to get some expert advice. Those who go along will get an insight into exactly what’s involved in setting up a business. Our friendly and knowledgeable advisors can talk you through every step of the process, helping you to turn your dream of running your own business into a reality.”

To book a place at the forthcoming Goole workshop, visit: https://investeastyorkshire.co.uk/is-starting-a-business-right-for-me-6/. Places are limited and refreshments will be provided.

Similar sessions will also be running at other venues across the East Riding of Yorkshire on different dates so, if you can’t attend on 17 September, it’s well worth visiting the Invest East Yorkshire website for further details: https://investeastyorkshire.co.uk/events/. The workshop for those thinking of starting a business is just one of a wide range of workshops offered by Invest East Yorkshire, which also hosts sessions on everything from developing a marketing plan to recruiting with confidence. Workshops take place at venues across East Yorkshire or online, for those who prefer to access the support remotely.

Part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Invest East Yorkshire’s Business Support Services team offers a comprehensive package of support to businesses, from events and workshops to one-to-one advice and help identifying sources of funding. It also manages The Supply Chain Network Supplier Directory, which was created for businesses to showcase their products and services, and a Resource Portal, where businesses can find a wide range of free information, tools and templates. The team is also able to signpost businesses to other support providers and draw upon the expertise of colleagues in other departments across the council, such as planning, licensing and environmental health.

Businesses are welcome to contact the team by emailing business.support@eastriding.gov.uk, telephoning 01482 391622 or visiting www.investeastyorkshire.co.uk/business-support for more information about the package of support on offer.

This workshop will be followed by a further free event for those thinking of starting their own business entitled ‘Getting started in business’, which will take place at Goole Library on Wednesday 2 October at 5pm. This is being organised by Opportunity Goole, one of eight projects funded by the £25 million Goole Town Deal regeneration programme. More information about this event will be released soon.
