22 February 2024

Invest East Yorkshire and Invest Hull have joined forces to offer businesses in our area the chance to attend FREE interactive workshops where they can develop and enhance their bid writing skills.

Invest east yorkshire

The aim of the workshops is to equip local businesses with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the competitive world of contract bidding, often referred to as tendering. Taking place between late February and June, the forthcoming workshops will be mostly online, although there is a special in-person session planned for April for those who would like to attend.

The first session, an ‘Introduction to bidding’, will take place online next Tuesday, 27 February, and is ideal for those taking their first tentative steps in the world of bid writing. It will cover key strategies for successfully developing both public and private sector tenders.

This will be followed by an in-person workshop on ‘winning more work through tenders’ at Ergo Business Centre at Hessle on 16 April; an online session on ‘practical bid writing skills for businesses’ on 30 April; and an online workshop on ‘dealing with social value and sustainability questions’ on 25 June.

Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the sessions will be led by industry veterans Kate Skillman and Nigel Dennison of Gimlet Associates Limited, who are renowned for their expertise in the tendering process. In the past year alone, they’ve been instrumental in securing contract wins for clients amounting to more than £383 million.
