Bringing learning to life with Tech She Can
11 November 2024
Quickline Communications, the rural broadband provider, has been working with their partners at Tech She Can to bring to life the workings of Wi-Fi to a younger audience.
Through their collaboration with the leading tech education and careers charity, announced last month, they have created an exciting animation, aimed at primary school pupils, to explain how Wi-Fi works.
In the animated lesson, Quickline engineer Katie Hook, joins Tech She Can characters Katie, Tex and Ava to break down the magic of Wi-Fi, how it keeps people connected and why a connection might drop from time to time.
The sketch will be used in schools to help engage, inspire and educate youngsters, and particularly girls, to study technology subjects and pursue careers in tech.
Kate Hook said: “It was great fun to be involved in creating the animation but actually seeing it come to life is amazing – I love it! And if it helps girls to better understand the world of tech and inspires them to follow a career path into telecommunications, then that’s fantastic!”
The partnership between Quickline and Tech She Can forms part of our social value commitment to the Project Gigabit contracts we’ve been awarded from the government that will see us provide gigabit-capable broadband to more than 170,000 rural homes and businesses across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
In addition to the animation, funding from Quickline has enabled Tech She Can to expand its educational team with to new regionally based teachers dedicated to schools in West and South Yorkshire.
