Creating Hope Through Action: Mental Health in the Workplace II

Thursday, 8 June 2023

Hull College

A re-run of the popular free session delivered by Bondholders' Talent+ and Hull and East Yorkshire Mind.

About this event

Date: Thursday 8th June 2023

Time: 1pm - 4pm

Venue: Hull College

Bondholders is delighted to partner with local leading mental health charity Hull and East Yorkshire Mind for a free session to equip attendees with vital mental health awareness training to take back to their workplace.

Part of the Bondholders' Talent + programme, the session will help to create Mental Health Champions in businesses across the region. The training, which is delivered by a qualified and experienced Hull and East Yorkshire Mind trainer, will provide attendees with the key skills and knowledge to challenge stigma and encourage positive mental health culture in their place of work. Mental Health Champions are not qualified mental health or HR professionals, but are able to promote a positive mental health at work experience for everyone.

According to Mind, one in six people will experience a mental health problem at work in any given week. Often, the people they are surrounded by will have no idea. If they do, they may not know how to help.

A huge thank you to Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Hull College for providing this free event during Humber Business Week.

The session saw over 30 people of all ages from different sectors learn more from Yvonne Sharp of HEY Mind about mental health, what it can look like, and how others can help. We learned more about the differences between anxiety and depression, and what forms these illnesses can take. We were encouraged to discuss our knowledge of mental health conditions and share how we have helped others in the past.

Everyone left with a little bit more knowledge about mental health and a bit more confidence in providing support for those with mental health issues.

Did you know - around 1 in 6 people in the workplace right now are experiencing mental health issues? That's a lot of people that could benefit from extra support. Congratulations to all those that came along and took part. Wear your new badges with pride!
